Why do I need a website?

We have had lots of feedback from customers with Yell sites saying that they think that they are paying too much for their website. With clunky, non-responsive designs, high initial design costs and expensive monthly charges – and they don’t even own their own website! After doing some research on the matter, here are a few common issues we have found with yell.com websites:

High Monthly Fees

You cannot get hold of the web designer, meaning that your web project lacks the personal touch. If you contact us, you will be able to get through to a web designer straight away.

No Personal Touch

Yell websites lowest monthly maintenance is £42 per month. Going up to a few hundred pounds per month. There is also a build fee to pay from £499 (excluding VAT). These prices are correct as of 24th May 2019. Incomparison our starter hosting price is £15.00 a month plus vat. This would be a saving of £324 a year.

Poor SEO (website ranking low on Google)

The majority of Yell websites do not use the latest and best SEO techniques to get the best chance of getting found on Google.

Website Ownership Issues

Your website will be owned by Yell, and not you. The monthly payments are for you to rent the site and hosting costs. If you stop making the monthly payments then you lose the website. Yell websites cannot be transferred.

Generic Templates

Yell websites are made using a platform that is unpopular. We make our websites on WordPress which is the most popular platform in the world. Around 33% of websites currently online are wordpress sites.

Unresponsive Websites

In other words they are not really mobile friendly. Yell have two versions of your website; one for PCs and the other for Mobiles. Websites must be responsive; in other words one website that adapts according to the device it is being viewed on, otherwise Google penalise you. With more than half of visitors now browsing on their phone, a responsive mobile-friendly website will maximise the chances of engagement from potential clients.
